Discuss: Social puppets and the Blue Book

I was discussing this topic the other day with a friend.. and the issue keeps poppin’ up again with local companies tying bloggers with contracts and actually asking them not to post or tweet about any other competitor, even it was a personal opinion. Well, if this is how things are going then we should take an action to counter attack what Corp-heads are doing, am I right?

Dear Corp-Heads,

turning the blog-o-sphere into a “sponsored” puppet show won’t work.. and these are some basic rules that I wish if my fellow bloggers would follow to teach Corp-heads some manners:

  1. No more sponsorship contracts.
  2. You’re welcome -as a company- to “rent” an advertising space on my blog.
  3. You -as a company- have no right to tell me what to write and what not to write on my blog.
  4. You -as a company- can take out your Ad’s at anytime if you do not like what I post about.
  5. I, as a blogger, can write about and criticize the advertising company services and products.
  6. I, as a blogger, by the rules of the Kuwaiti constitution, have the full right to post about whatever I want, and to go whatever event.
Dear Fellow bloggers,
I would really appreciate it if you add your input to the above and spread the word to other bloggers. Call it a bloggers “blue book”! having some rules that we agree to won’t harm, but would help. let’s unite to keep our blog-o-sphere “clean”.

Waiting for your input :)

U.S. v. Public Warehousing Co. “Agility”

The case was postponed from Jan. 29 to Feb. 8 to negotiate over the settlement. so its scheduled for today in Atalanta timezone

I’ll add any updates we get.

*UPDATE*

DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)–Kuwait’s logistics firm Agility (AGLTY.KW) said Monday a U.S. court entered a not guilty plea on its behalf as the company continues talks to settlement a case over allegations it overcharged on about $8.5 billion worth of contracts.

“The court agreed to assign the case for purposes of setting a briefing schedule and entered a plea of ‘not guilty’ on the company’s behalf to allow the case to move forward,” Agility said in an emailed statement after the court session.

“The request for a briefing schedule is intended to preserve PWC’s rights while the company and the Department of Justice conduct discussions aimed at a resolution of the case.”

Thats just too much money to lose in one day!

ConnectU lawsuit against facebook resulted in securing $65M settlement, It was a confidential settlement until the law firm representing ConnectU decided to do a little marketing for the latest lawsuit victory with their newsletter and now it covers all the over the internet webpages. I think another lawsuit will pull out all the money back to facebook. who knows if you could win 65m in one day you might just lose it in the next one.

Why dont we have major lawsuits in Kuwait with lots of money being paid as settlements all what I hear is 5001 KD as a settlement.

btw do they really pay the one dinar in the 5001 or its just a judge’s way to tell a joke?
