Movie Review: THOR

Banished by his father from the realm of Asgard, THOR lands into earth to reconsider his behavior and to reclaim his lost powers, only when he deserves them back! Not knowing that he has been set up by his own brother, Loki. This movie is one of the MARVEL pieces that would take us to one end; “The Ultimate Alliance”- or “The Avengers” initiative.

I went to watch THOR last Thursday night, the movie was REALLY COOL. The story line, effects, cast… etc, everything was perfect. But the thing is that you might be lost in some scenes, Specially when it comes to referring to some other Marvel characters; like “Stark” (IRON MAN), or “A friend who was poisoned with Gamma radiation” referring to HULK, or sometimes showing up a character without mentioning the action name of that character, like “Hawkeye” whom had a short appearance in THOR the movie.

Here are some tips to keep a good track of the few last & upcoming marvel movies:

  • Watch “IRON MAN” – Part 1 of course, and keep watching until the credit line ends! a surprising scene will show :)
  • Watch “IRON MAN II”. You’ll see “Captain America’s” armor in one of the scenes. Keep watching until the credit line ends, another surprise scene will show! :)
  • Watch “The Incredible HULK” – a.k.a “HULK” starring Edward Norton, and focus on the last scene of the movie. It will refer to the “Avengers Initiative” mentioned in IRON MAN II movie.
  • Go and watch “THOR” :) now it will make more sense to you :)
  • Wait for “Captain America: The First Avenger” movie; will be released later through 2011
  • The finale, will be “The Avengers” movie.. imagine all those super heroes in one movie!? HULK, IRON MAN, THOR, Captain America, Hawkeye.. woh!
  • One more thing, a new Spiderman movie is in the making! Do you think the Avenger team will feature spidey as well as in the comic books, games, and animated series and movies? Hope so!

My Rating of THOR:

Movie: The Devil’s Double

I bet you know who Uday Hussain is, but I don’t think you knew about his double.. Latif Yahya. A new Hollywood motion picture is to be released on July 29, 2011 telling the story of how Uday – Son of Saddam Hussain- took Latif as his double. The trailer says.. “based on a true story”, which tells me a lot of Hollywood crap must have been added to the story to spice it up.

Enjoy the trailer

X-Men: First Class

Before he was professor X, he was “Charles”… Before he was Magneto, he was “Erik”. The Marvel story that never ends, the endless fight between the good & and the bad, starts now!

Movie Review : The Social Network

The Social Network tells the story of the founding of the now famous social networking website, Facebook, and all of the lawsuits and broken relationships it took to create the source of friendships for the 21st century. In a way, writer Aaron Sorkin and director David Fincher have crafted a modern day Shakespearean tragedy. No, there is no murder, but there is a ton of backstabbing. Nowadays, we don’t need to kill to usurp power, we just need money, and more of it. Whether Zuckerberg stole the idea for Facebook from some collegiate athletes wanting to make a Harvard dating website or not, this is all irrelevant, the bottom line is, Zuckerberg, like all great tragic heroes, made the wrong alliances (Sean Parker, founder of Napster) and alienated his only real friend (Eduardo Saverin, co-founder of Facebook and former CFO).

Actor Andrew Garfield plays Eduardo Saverin with such an emotional range, that I would say Garfield’s performance is the heart of the movie. You feel for Eduardo being phased out of the company by his one and only friend and Zuckerberg’s new “so-called friend” Sean Parker, played surprisingly well by Justin Timberlake in fantastic acting form. The true reason Eduardo is phased out is never really explained, maybe Mark was always jealous that Eduardo was more popular than he, or that Sean felt threatened by Eduardo’s business prowess. The worst part is, and this is what really makes The Social Network a tragedy, is that Mark spent so many hours working on his computer with headphones on, tuning out the rest of the world, that he never listened to reason and lost his only legitimate friend. This turn towards pathos in the final scenes of the movie are played exceptionally well by Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg. With just one look, Eisenberg manages to convey a range of unsaid emotions, that while he is still talking like the world’s biggest socially awkward jerk, he knows what he’s lost.

I give The Social Network a 10 out of 10!
