My passion is not for sale…

Ok, as many other bloggers, every now and then I get sponsorship proposals from different companies in different fields. But every time, its the contract terms and conditions that stop me from signing.. I wouldn’t mind a sponsorship, but no power on earth.. I repeat.. ON EARTH, can tell me what to write or what not to write!
Blogging, has never been a trade or a wrestling arena for companies to fight over! Blogging is a passion! my blog is MY personal spot, that I use to say whatever I want to say. Unfortunately, some fellow bloggers deviated from that path, accepting directions and getting involved in commercial wars between local titans! (i.e: Companies). Can you imagine a blogger being asked to remove a post because it talks about the “Sponsor competitors”? Or a blogger, being forced not to attend an event held by a competitor? What is this? Exclusivity mathalan?!! By the way, these incidents are real, I’m not making things up!
My blog, has never been, and is not, and will never become a “Commercial Slave”! You, as a blogger, should realize the fact that your blog should represent you, and only you! NO one on earth, should direct what you should or shouldn’t write! I have made my choice earlier, and the question remains, fellow blogger! ..
What is your choice?
Become a commercial slave? Or fight for your “blog” freedom?

Fight ALL the Way ,, u know Me DUDE =)

no one can control what i think ! FREEDOM for Bloggers
you are so right. thanks for the reminder
Am I the only one who’s proud of having an ad-free blog? (And actually refuse to place ads regardless)
Promote in a post, Yes. But not an ad space.
I don’t think theres anything wrong in getting a couple cents using google ads. You can’t control the content that goes on those. But as far as the main post goes, I agree 100% percent. I’m against any local companies giving large sums of money to write fake reviews and attend free events and lie about quality and all that bullshit like so many blogs are doing now.
I never knew it went as far as not attending events due to strict sponsorship. ‘His’ wrote a post explaining how many blogs fall in the sponsorship issue, which isn’t suppose to happen. Its suppose to be advertising, just like advertising anywhere else. It’s upsetting knowing some blogs end up as nothing more than tools for companies. The whole point of a blog is freedom of speech, you strip that away and you don’t have much left!
totally agree and i always say that no one can tell me what i can or cannot write about we are living in a free country and blogging is a free community
My blog, My rules
What i like about this post is the words you have chosen, not agressive, yet true and straight to the point. As everyone said, yes we all agree with you, no one should control what we want to write about because its our own space, some people chose the other way, well probably cuz they never had a passion for this anyway.
What pisses me the most is that people who writes about freedom of writing and how their blog is their own place and they can do or say whatever they want, and at the end, they also signed a contract and follow the rules.
We are glad that we dont follow any stupid rules, so way to go Nasser, you have our support
I totally agree
I like your passion and i agree with you 100% no body is up for sale.
Now from the organizations point of view they do have a valid point.
Say i am a baseball player one of the best batters; Nike decides to sponsor me, they pay me and i am happy with the terms or the total amount of this contract; i will NOT be able to show up at Reebok event.
If i decide to go and its an open invitation, i must get an approval from the sponsor that i signed with. Or i can work something out using the terms and conditions of the contract itself from the beginning.
So therefore it is up to you, if you feel you want to be sponsored by X company and you are benefiting from the contract then agree. If you think you can do better then refuse. If you want a change in the contract terms then inform them; you might reach an agreement.
Lastly you will not belong to them forever, there is a period for the contract, say it lasts for 6 months; once the contract is done; it is up to you! The ball is in your court and yo can work out your terms at the end of the day.
Anyways enjoy your day and i do enjoy skimming through your blog!
I wouldn’t mind being sponsored by “Victoria’s Secret” looooool
